As someone who is both a scholar interested in and also a job seeker along various law and policy avenues, I find it perplexing that some roles that are ostensibly entry-level (i.e., coordinator) also require previous investigative experience, or sometimes the coord or investigator role is lumped in with another HR or EOE/AA function but without what would seem adequate or commensurate compensation let alone time or human capacity to do all roles well.

One barrier a lot of folks have when talking about and is that it’s usually framed as a performance metric or a boring line - ignoring that they’re talking about people, about workers.

Another barrier is the ingrained, usually unexamined, anti-union philosophical underpinnings.

Likely because many transportation folks are from the and don’t identify as workers. And believe that are for the trades.
