I don't understand... why is everyone happy to pay for Baldur's Gate 3?
Has everyone forgotten that this is the same company everyone was enraged at?
The scummy OGL behaviour, the Pinkertons, CEO (and former Xbox manager) Cynthia Williams as stating that D&D is "under monetized".
I just don't get it.
Oh no. #WotC is trending again. It’s either something good, but with recent trends, I assume it’s something stupid.
*checks hashtag posts*
Yep. Stupid.
Might as well give this a try on Mastodon: I'm interested in #commission work for #dnd #art! Any #artists on here who can produce creature/monster art similar to what you can find in official #WotC source books? I have two spooky monsters that I'd like to have full-colored artwork made for their stat blocks.
Show me what you've got! #dungeonsanddragons #mastoart #DnD5e #ttrpg

Holy crap. Have you ever seen a 18-card panoramic painting? Because #WOTC sure did just commission this one.
I'm very impressed, and also really appreciated the few minutes they took during their Livestream today to talk about the composition of the piece artistically.

After a great conversation with @capybaraz, I've made my decision.
Wizards of the Coast hired the PINKERTONS. I am an anarchist worker's rights advocate who plays magic the gathering.
It's time for PROXIES, BABY.
good morning, enjoy a crime cat.
#thecrimecats say motherfuck #wizardsofthecoast for hiring a private security firm, the labor-busting extrajudicially-murdering #pinkertons to shake down a customer. if you don't want to set a standard of corporations sending private security thugs to strong arm and intimidate people, i cannot implore you enough to never give #wotc money again.

So apparently Wizards of the Coast employs Pinkertons? Y-I-K-E-S! https://kotaku.com/magic-the-gathering-pinkerton-youtube-wotc-mtg-1850372856

Using #Pinkertons Agents at all is just evil. By using Pinkertons a company is declaring that it hates its workers. Alone the association with such a Security firm with such a vile history is bad for any companies reputation. #WotC
But sending such Thugs to threaten a YouTuber who opened Magic Cards before the Release date? Who in their right mind would do that? Is @Wizards_Magic and #Hasbro run by caricature capitalist villains right out of bad comedy movies?
That's what lawyers are for. #MTG

OK #pnpde Bubble.
System egal :) Haut rein!

Hey #MagicTheGathering I don‘t know who needs to hear this but the Prof is here.

Fallout and boon of WotC OGL controversy: game and supplement designers have started making their licensing more visible -- especially promoting third-party contribution.

I'm again thinking about how disappointing the decision is of #WotC making their #VTT an app instead of extending the web-based #dndbeyond
It is so much easier for a group to use a web app.
@AM_PS4 (paraphrase) "White guys like me couldn't leave D&D sooner"
I think you can just fast-forward to the end of the 3 Black Halflings video and find it.
My issue is that that type of comment is just meant to drive division within the #ttrpg community for #WotC's posturing--which is complete bullshit.
One of the most irritating issues about #WotC is how they are manipulating people into thinking they are some kind of moral paragon by making extremely toxic statements like the ones Kyle Brinks made. It's abhorrent to see them peddle the faulty premise that an entire community of #ttrpg players is racist, exclusive or non-representative--all the while self-flagellating oneself to obtain some kind of absolution or virtue signalling. As a BIPOC, I never experienced any of this.
Wizards still had customer goodwill to burn?
A welcome development but it's ridiculous it's taken as much pushback as it did for this level of reversal...
Dungeons & Dragons Scraps Plans to Update Its Open Game License

Me? I’m mostly satisfied with this outcome. It doesn’t mean #WotC has regained my trust. Or that of any other gamer I know. There’s a lot about this whole situation that’s just bizarre, speaks poorly about the leadership of the company, and in general raises more questions than it answers.
But the situation has stabilized for now, and hopefully I can turn my attention to other, more important things.
Well, it looks #WotC did the right thing in the end with regards to the #OGL. This situation reminds me of this interaction from #Farscape.
Rygel: Look I—I know I can be selfish, but given a chance I can usually—
John: What? Do the right thing?
Rygel: Yes.
John: Rygel, I figure the right thing starts at the beginning of the day. Not after you've been caught.
They learned from the backlash, apparently. Today #WotC released the #SRD 5.1 under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license! https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1439-ogl-1-0a-creative-commons?utm_campaign=DDB&utm_source=TWITTER&utm_medium=social&utm_content=8757369729
Seems like the #SRD going into Creative Commons doesn't mean all of the "rules" are freely available for use like they are in #Pathfinder -- I don't see any of the supplemental books content in the draft document
