Part 1 of a series of articles in the @winnipegfreepress that examine two decades of inequests into police shootings.
I was shocked by the extremely lengthy delays and lack of importance placed on such inquests. This is the kind of in-depth journalism that is so important to society.

I didn't know Rick Shone was running in our upcoming provincial election, so I was really excited when I rode past his campaign office today!
Then...I realized that he was running for the PCs. Ugghhhh!! Why Rick, why??
This is just so "Winnipeg". The City lets the Harbourview park facilities deteriorate to the point that it needs to be completely rebuilt. But SOMEHOW, we find the money to build a brand new road through the park. Un-fricking-believable. You can't make this up. Argggghhhh!!!

This op-ed from Dr. Dan Robert, acting head of neurology at HSC is incredible. He refers to the sleep study deal with Cerebra as a "fiasco" and his final comment is "It’s clear the privatization agenda is paramount, regardless of the cost or the long-term health consequences."
I sure hope that Manitobans are paying attention. Thanks to Dr. Roberts for speaking up, and thanks to @winnipegfreepress for publishing.

“At a time when people are living in bus shelters, it is criminal to spend this much money on transportation issues. It doesn’t make sense to me.”

While our political leaders are preoccupied with power, the big problems remain undealt with.
Don's Photo, a fixture in downtown #Winnipeg, is moving for a variety of unfortunate reasons.
#Winnipeg is preoccupied with minor annoyances like potholes and mosquitos. And we look for "easy" answers like increased police. But we have no focus or strength to take on the real issues like sprawl, poverty, substance abuse, and homelessness.

If this is JUST a KFC, then I'm shaking my damn head. The threshold for celebrating an opening has to be a *COMBINATION* KFC & Taco Bell!!!

Congratulations to the managment and staff on the opening of the new @kfc_canada@twitter.com location at 1170 Pembina Hwy. It was good to see Colonel Sanders again. Somehow he never ages. @kfc@twitter.com #Wpgpoli

My colleagues have been decorating my desk again.
(No, neither of these councillors are running for mayor, so chill)

I remember when I first dipped my toes in the #fediverse maybe four years ago, and did some searching for people from #winnipeg and #manitoba I was disappointed to find mostly biased political ranting. After a point, I just stopped searching, and focused on enjoying the interesting ideas bouncing around.
Now, with the exodus from the birdsite, it''s exciting to see all the new local (to me) folks showing up here.
Maybe I'll start posting more about #wpgpoli and #mbpoli now 😉

@dylon_r_martin This aggression will not stand, man. Just thought of searching for this tag and you were all by yourself for a few hours! #Wpgpoli
