If any here use , I have a couple of questions for you.

Where do you save your backup files? Do you use Scrivener's default location, save to somewhere else on your hard drive, or save to the cloud (if to the cloud, which cloud?). What's your reasoning for your choice?

for my fellow writers: In a world inhabited only by anthropomorphic animals (think Redwall or Zootopia), what general term do you use to refer to them? People? Creatures? Animals? Something else?

did all of your favorite books have hooks in the first chapter? What were some of them & were any subtle or were they pronounced?

Writing question: Do you let your characters write the story for you? Or do you take control of your plot and let nothing change it?

I’ve noticed a lot of people are anti-prologue, and I’m not sure why. What’s wrong with more story? I like story. I don’t think I’ve ever written one, but neither have I skipped one when reading a book.

Fellow writers (specifically, writers of short stories), I have an organizational question for you.

How do you keep track of the various drafts & revisions of each story you write? Do you have an effective file naming system in place to address length, font styles, anonymous versions, etc? My Google Drive is a hot mess. I could use some helpful suggestions for getting myself organized.

One of the things I do as a is read my work aloud. I do it to check if my has flow and musicality. However, I have no idea what constitutes flow to readers. How does and work for Deaf readers and writers, especially with a language as irregular as English?

Do any other have a "tip jar" system on any of their public writing pages (Substack, etc.)? As in, a little link that people can use to donate to you if they want? I don't want to add a paid tier to my Substack since I'm not currently posting frequently enough to justify the cost, but a handy little "buy me a coffee" button would be cool.

I'm writing a story in which anthropomorphic animals are the predominant form of life (think Redwall or even Zootopia). If a woodland creature was going to keep an insect or other smaller critter as livestock, what kind would it be? I'm leaning toward beetles.

Way behind on , but pleased to be getting ahead on the weekends at least.

Does anyone else feel like they can only write fiction if they get at least a little bit started in the morning.

If I do that I can keep it up into the afternoon but therwise I just can't seem to get over the activation energy.
