Because of Reasons, I find myself looking for the history of circuit diagrams - when did they start being used? When were they standardised? Would they have been used and, if so, what would they have looked like circa 1930?

Wikipedia offers some historic symbols, noting where they're "old" or "very old", with no indication of the years they were used.
My google-fu has failed; is there a a magic phrase I don't know? I tried "please".

For a novel that features hyperspace-dwelling giant squids and a lost ship called the Pathos Verdes III, I'm doing an awful lot of factual research... 🙃
