Sundsvall municipality is absolutely impressive when it comes to #XCskiing . There are about 300km tracks. This map shows the grooming status at 7am. Today I will start from the lake going all the way up to the top.
Seems like spring took a short break. #XCskiing it is today, I guess.π #spring #springAt62DegNorth

Today's ski adventure, Oldman's Pass trails
Today was a beautiful day in Lake Placid, NY, so I went cross country skiing for the first time in about a dozen years. Winters aren't cold or snowy enough for skiing in NJ where I am. So this was a great opportunity, not only for location, but also weather! The area had a decent snowfall not too long ago, and the trails were recently groomed. #crosscountryskiing #xcski #xcskiing

Gatineau! 300m of elevation, climbing started right from the jump. 300m! I even hate doing that in cycling, so this was -rude-β¦
(but that meant an awesome descent. I almost took someone off the track).

Went skiing twice yesterday because why not. π First, during lunch and the second time with the kids. Very nice moon together with jupiter and venus in the evening. #XCskiing
Today's adventures in #DIY #outdoor #gear was making my own #XCskiing kicker skins. Skins are strips mohair with glue on one side. They slide easily on the snow in one direction, but stick in the other letting you ski up hills.
I cut down a set of old full-length skins, invented a cool buckle design to hold the front end to the ski, riveted it on... only to find that I'd put it on the wrong end. I can now slide *backwards* with ease, but can't go forwards. Dammit!
