Here's a bird that I photographed on Good Friday.

On the day, I had to put 100% trust in my camera to nail the focus. It was just too small in the viewfinder (and the light too bright) for me to determine if I'd nailed the shot on-site.

Here's another photo of one of the 20 iron sentinels of the Combe Down Tunnel just south of #Bath.

Here, I was able to catch the ghostly outline of the refuge alcove too, illuminated by the pulsing glow of the sentinel as it bops along to the music.

The longer exposure time has also caught a hint of what the inner disk of the sentinel looks like too.

The more I shoot with this camera, the more I feel that FujiFilm have made something a little special.

This is a photo of one of the 20 iron sentinels of the Coombe Down Tunnel just south of #Bath.

Together, they form a light-and-sound art installation that greets you as you reach the middle of this 1.7 km former railway tunnel.

Well worth a visit!

Good afternoon everyone!

I've been driving past this #sculpture on the #A470 just north of #Llanidloes for years ... and finally I took the opportunity to stop and photography it.

It's a tricky bugger to photograph: it faces north, and is predominantly backlit. I'm going to have to do some proper planning for when I go back and do it justice!

I think it does magical things to any subject that's got texture to it.

I'm really glad that IBIS in the X-H2 makes this lens usable now.

Last week, I took the 70-300mm lens out for a lunchtime walk, looking for birds to photograph. Well outside my comfort zone as an amateur photographer!

This little robin was happy for me to get close enough to take this shot.

I've adjusted the global exposure on it, nothing more.

This is a shot taken at the absolutely stunning Cregennen Lakes near Dolgellau in North Wales.

The drive up to the lakes is ... er ... interesting, especially if you come from the north. Well worth it, though.

Finally, a shout-out to just how good the #Fujifilm #XH2 is.

Over 300 shots taken during this trip, using some of Fuji's oldest XF-mount prime lenses. I shot after sunset, before sunrise, and under the midday sun.

The camera nailed every single shot - just like it did the night @rob and I shot at the Bath Christmas Market.

There's no way my old X-T3 camera would have pulled that off.

I recently went back to Ynys Llanddwyn for a late night / early morning shoot.

The tides couldn't have been better for access. There was no wind whipping sand up everywhere. Everything was perfect ... except the light.

So I was delighted to get home, and see just how well my #Fujifilm #XH2 and 90mm prime had done in these conditions.

Here's another test shot taken with the legendary #Fujifilm 35mm f/1.4 prime lens.

This was taken at f/2, because even on a winter's day, it was just too bright to shoot at f/1.4!

I've picked this one to show that there's no problem with detail at all. You can put this lens on the #XH2 and it works perfectly fine with that monster 40 megapixel sensor.

Also, look at the colours. The new WB mode on the X-H2 is a huge upgrade!

I used to have the 90mm #Fujifilm prime. You might remember a couple of shots I posted on here taken in Oxford. Those were taken with the 90mm prime.

I found it hard to use on the #XT3, because neither lens nor body had image stabilisation.

With the IBIS in the #XH2, the 90mm handles superbly now.

It's still rather a rather awkward focal length for framing shots, but that's a wholly different problem 😂

This first shot is from the 90mm prime, wide open at f/2.

I love how the stone masonry here has rendered.

There's plenty of detail without the final result looking overly digital (for lack of a better description).

With the advent of the #Fujifilm #XH2, quite a few folks have been selling their old lenses and upgrading to the latest and greatest.

That's been very good for me.

Some of those original XF-mount prime lenses have character that's not too dissimilar from vintage glass.

So I've picked up a bunch of them, and today's the first day it's been dry enough to get outside and take some test shots.

Over the last three months or so, I've been dipping my toe into the vintage-lens-on-modern-cameras pool.

I learned some useful things:

1. There's something about the way vintage glass renders on the #Fujifilm #XH2 that really works for me.

2. Nailing focus with adapted glass is just too much of a lottery.

I took a break from lunch to experiment with vintage glass (a Paragon 135mm M42-mount prime lens) on my #Fujifilm #XH2.

I think this shot's come out quite nice. There's a character to it that really suits the composition.
