Operating portable with my G90, a homebrew T2LT antenna on a Spiderbeam mast.

I also heard several DX stations in Uruguay, Guatemala, Chile! And also close by stations in Italy, France, Turkey ...

Trying more new #hamradio experiences.

Tuesday I first successfully connected the audio of #Xiegu X6100's internal sound card to my MacBook Pro and had fldigi decoding the messages. Tried to transmit but nada.

I spent tonight figuring out CAT control of the X6100 using flrig. Glad to have a new dummy load and have figured at least the basics.

Reading about the #Xiegu #X6100 . If I understand right, it's built around an Allwinner R16 quad-core Cortex-A7, running a binary-blob build of Linux as control plane firmware. Enough details have emerged to let people build a run #Armbian on it, though there doesn't seem to be open-source drivers for everything.

On the one hand, hackable radio! But how much of your radio time do you want to spend hacking on the radio, vs. making contacts?

@dl2jml I am tempted to give the #Xiegu #X6100 a try. It has a tuner and waterfall and is affordable. I know its filtering is not the best and can get overloaded when in a crowded space, but it's also quite cheap and if anything can be a good radio to throw in a “emergency kit”, hmm 🤔

Got a #Xiegu #G90 yesterday.

The big negative is that the Xiegu DE19 digital interface (that I got to go with it) has been nothing but trouble. I will likely be returning it and getting a signallink instead. The main reason I got this radio was to be able to do FT8 and related modes on more bands, so the interface situation has been disappointing.

Positively --- I made a lot of SSB Phone QSO's today. I have been surprised by how much more I'm being heard at 20 watts over 5 watts.

I'm a Technician into #aprs, #cw and #emcomm on #hf .

My equipment is Kenwood TH20A 2M in my car with magmount and #xiegu #g90 with #efhf on #battery #solar #power (the emcomm bit). I also have a 1W tracker in my #aircraft .

The furthest I made SSB contacts from #california is #mississippi. On #js8 #js8call I easily make contacts into eastern seaboard.

My current project is learning #cw , setting up a permanent #antenna and getting my #general.

#HamRadio Question for #Xiegu G90 owners:

Other than the box, is there any real/functional difference between the De-19 and Ce-19 data interfaces?

I'm playing around in the #Xiegu #X6100 stock #Linux installation and it seems pretty clear that they tried (and failed) to get #bluetooth audio working.
The audio is managed by ALSA.
Bluealsa is installed with some half-baked configuration, in an attempt to get the sound out to BT devices...

Question for the hive mind I currently have two #HF radios. one is a #Xiegu g1m core that I mostly use for #ft8 and related modes.the other radio is a yaesu ft 817 however it has the common fault that many of this older radio have, of not being able to transmit. I have considered the possibilities for repair for this radio but I'm leaning right now towards instead just keeping it as a receive only radio but using it to do something interesting such as decoding whisper, sstv or something else?

I picked up a used #Xiegu #G90 #GSOC head on ebay. Holy smokes this screen is the bomb diggity. It takes a bit of time and patience to figure out firmware quirks, and the no-less-than 3 separate cables are a real pain to manage... but that screen! 🤓 Just used this rig to break through a massive pileup on 10m for a #parksontheair station in Hawaii - only 20W into a homebrew vertical dipole. Lovin it.

Hallo. Weiß jemand ob/wie ich das I/Q-Signal des G90 in SDR Console bekomme? Geht das überhaupt? Dazu muss SDR Console ja eine Soundkarte als Device einbinden. Ich finde aber kein Soundkartendevice.

Found a different spot well away from foot traffic so I could put up a multi-band random wire w/9:1 balun. The #Xiegu #G90 tuned it up on every band in a second or less.
