Before I started dipping my toes on #HomeAssistant I heard a lot of people with bad experiences with #ZWave, which I never had, but I wanted to try going the #Zigbee route. Sadly now I read/hear a lot of bad things about it as well, although I haven't had any so far.
So, what now?

Just completed - not installing - but actually adding the #ZWave combo #smokedetector /CO2 detector (yes, @TechConnectify: Photocell) to my Z-Wave controller, instead of just relying on the sound of it to alert me.
Now they all text me & my husband if there's a fire - in case we're out of the house.
We have a dog. This way we can call a neighbor to get my pup out of the house should the need arise.
Don't know why I didn't do this before. Thanks for cajoling me to test, @TechConnectify! ❤️
Anybody seen any good deals for Prime Day for devices you can reflash with #ESPHome, or that already link up nicely to #homeassistant? (Or any #zigbee or #ZWave devices)

@jonoxer just wondering what z-wave adapter do you use? Assuming any 700 series will work from https://www.home-assistant.io/docs/z-wave/controllers/ ?
Also https://github.com/OpenZWave/Zwave2Mqtt appears to be deprecated in favour of https://github.com/zwave-js/zwave-js-ui . Curious.

My rules for setting up #zigbee & #Zwave meshes:
1. Put the dongle on an extension cable and place it at least 2m away from the rPi, especially if you have a plastic case
2. Start pairing with the closest mains-powered device and work your way outward
3. Only after all mains devices are in the mesh do you add battery ones. Add them where you're going to use them, not near the coordinator.
@SnaretheMonkey @agturcz @jan I've mostly been sticking with #ZigBee and #WiFI for now and haven't been really interested in trying to add #ZWave on top of it. I also only have a #RaspberryPi3 powering my #HomeAssistant so I'm not sure it can handle adding Z-Wave also. @Colone1Sanders7

I just installed a #zwave #smarthome #dimmer switch yesterday, and the lights I have connected to the switch now flicker for a couple seconds every 15 minutes on the dot.
I turned on the most verbose logging option in my Zwave JS instance and followed the log when the flicker occurred, but nothing showed up.
Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this? I wouldn't think it's the dimmable LED bulbs we're using since this is occurring extremely regularly, so it's gotta be the switch, right?
How I have my #airbnb automated with #homeautomation. Using a #hubitat hub, #zigbee and #zwave devices. https://www.linquist.com/airbnb/automation

I never used HA, but since you asked for #ZWave, I recommend the GE Enbrighten line.
For drawing a home map, try SweetHome3D.
The #HomeAssistant #zwave integration continues to frustrate me. Every core/OS update is a 50/50 chance that the integration will break.
So, @AnthonyNixon implemented a filesystem for #AdventOfCode.

I just got my #Zigbee and #ZWave switches and #hue outdoor floodlights to control my outdoor #Christmas lights via my #Hubitat (wonderful device) hub! After ensuring my mesh networks reached outside to the curb! 🎄
I feel like those are similar achievements! 😂

Does anyone have a good health check script for #zigbee2mqtt to make it easy to get notified when it stops updating #mqtt?
And while I'm looking, any good health checks for #zwave-js-ui ?
Posted updates to https://github.com/unixorn/works-with-home-assistant
- Added devices
- Updated format so it's easier to find classes of devices (all the switches are clustered together now)
This list only contains devices the contributors have used with their own #HomeAssistant servers.
PRs and issues welcome.

I'm adding some of these Zooz #ZWave sensors to my #OpenHab setup. They are battery powered and have light, motion, temp, and humidity sensors.

Today's fun: our home internet is down all day for Xfinity maintenance (hopefully fiber will soon be an option as a result).
So now we're dealing with the fact that ALL of these different home automation things no longer work:
