I'm my opinion, part of the reason marginalized groups are over-represented amongst the COVID-cautious is because they grew up knowing the system is callous and, often, malevolent toward those that are not part of the dominant group. Marginalized groups have no illusions that the government and friends will take care of them. They know most people are fickle and will abandon their friends for social convenience and comforting lies.

COVID evolving past RAT detection + more asymptomatic infections?

All things being equal, asymptomatic cases or cases that elude RATs (at least the initial round) will cause more transmission as we have resumed 'normal' now, except for the COVID-careful.

This would favor these variants over others that get detected by RATs or cause acute infection symptoms.

Unfortunately, acute symptoms are no predictor of degree of internal damage and future lifespan reducing issues with strokes, liver, brain, kidneys, etc

But they do allow minimizers/deniers to further ignore the catastrophe and blame
#AnythingButCovid for the increased deaths and #lifespan reduction

Dangerous times indeed!

It also means that the case/hospitalization numbers may be even more understated than ever (20x, 25x?)

What are you doing to survive the loneliness? How are you building a community in the new normal? We lose people, often, due to a lack of community and I think we'd all benefit from hearing others' strategies. I don't know if I have great suggestions, yet, but I'm working on it now.

Every time someone tells me they don't know a SINGLE person with any issues post-COVID, I'm reminded of healthy "breatharians". There are people in this world who genuinely think they don't eat and that they can live off light and air but the thing is, they do eat. They just rationalize it or blank it out...

I know a tonne of people with issues post-COVID but I've always been the kind of person people disclose closely held things to.

That being said, we know erectile dysfunction and penis shrinkage is relatively common post-COVID. I wonder why I "don't know" anyone experiencing this particular issue... 🤔🤡

My sister and her family were #ZeroCovid until now and their kids were my kids' only playmates. Now, they have suddenly started going to unmasked, un-distanced larger events with other kids. They say their kids need to be socialized. So now, my kids are alone. What's the point in socialization if disability/death are an inevitable result? They know the risks and I can't wrap my mind around it. My sister is a teacher (N95 and HEPA every day) but their kids were sick soon after she started working again. Now I can't help but wonder, was it COVID?

This is so hard sometimes.

Being a parent is a trip. Being a parent in 2023 is a damn rollercoaster 🎢.

It's so surreal, at times, knowing that COVID is ripping our society apart and feeling like nobody else sees it. I never saw myself as a prepper but I'm definitely increasingly seeing myself as a survivor. Apparently the only prep that really mattered was developing emotional resilience and a solid IDGAF attitude. #NOVID #ZeroCovid
