@jeffcliff whoa, bitch move if I've ever seen one. Wait, I have: #zipcall dev also trashed the repo and made it proprietary after it was bought out.
Interesting to see how they are developing in the "commons" yet completely dependent on Microsoft infrastructure for it.
#ZipCall, the browser-based p2p video calling application got acquired and the main repository got removed.
Dick move?

Forks are still up, though.
So I had the opportunity to field test for the first time the #ZipCall #P2P video calling platform, and called overseas from directly within my browser.
The result? Faster, better quality than WhatsApp, and the - true - freedom to use any platform you want.
Needless to say, I'm switching away forever from nonfree software when calling my significant contacts from now on. Victory!
Short list of some great #P2P projects
Why? Because it's the surefire way to prevent #censorship of any and all forms. Plus, they're very easy to set up (i.e. install and run) so everyone can quickly get inside and contribute to the network.
- #Tox
- GNU #Jami
- #Ricochet (clever use of a tor hidden service)
- #BitMessage
- #ZeroNet
- #i2p
- #ZipCall (video calls from your browser)
- #MeshNets (closest thing to a "p2p internet")
What else would you add?
#p2p #Zipcall #meshnets #censorship #tox #jami #ricochet #bitmessage #zeronet #i2p
Anybody tried #ZipCall yet? It's apparently a peer-to-peer video calling application that allows you to make conferences straight from your browser without any server middlemen
I think this model of "making browsers useful and not just thin clients" is a good idea. Just hope that these goodies don't get abused i.e. #slipstream
#p2p #Zipcall #slipstream #videoconference
