For people who play AAA games: I've been playing #NoMansSky lately, and have noticed with concern its real-time aspects. A planetary base you adopt builds its structures over time, and your freighter sends out its ships on missions that take time to complete, and refining and cooking both take real time (and if I leave the base to do something else, the game tends to forget I left these tasks running and just throws away both the inputs and outputs).
Is this kind of thing common with AAA-class games these days? Features that mandate the passing of real time?
The community impacts of #FinalFantasyVIITheFirstSoldier shutting down are seldom discussed - people assume "nobody played it" and that it won't be missed. There were thousands of us, even on the day the service ended. I appreciate this article for giving a voice to us 💚
