January has been an exciting month for #AI #ML fundamental research at #PARC.

Our work on making #AIPlanning methods work/learn in an #OpenWorld -will be presented at #AAMAS2023 as well as at #ICAPS2023. AND, an #AIJ article is under works.

#OpenWorldLearning is a new challenge - the environments introduce novelties while the agent is operating in the world. The agent must detect, characterize, and accommodate novelties during run time. This research is a part of #DARPA #SAILON program

@DustinRMorrill I don't know.. I have not looked at the workshops. There might indeed be nothing related to games this year. :(

The RLG org team told me they were looking at doing it at #aamas2023 but I have not heard anything in a while. I will follow up with them.

Now that my reviews for AAMAS 2023 are done, I have time for a bit of a rant. I signed up to be a reviewer for AAMAS about half a year ago, without knowing if I would submit a paper myself. I have reviewed for AAMAS for a couple of years now and always enjoyed it. Given the past number of papers assigned (about 4 per reviewer) and the review period (1 month), I thought that would be a high workload with my other deadlines, but it should work.

I am annoyed for having 7 papers to review for #AAMAS2023. At the same time, I am happy to be learning a lot as all 7 papers are somewhat relevant to my long-term research goals in #XAI #responsibleAI & #abm

The #HumanEAI project meeting and #AI4HS2022 were great distractions. Too bad back to reality now with teaching and other deadlines over the next days -- including 50% of 7 #AAMAS2023 reviews.
