I'm using #graphviz to render rooms and the connections between them in #aardwolf

It's a just a proof of concept, there's going to be a lot of edge cases to deal with: the graph of rooms and their exits is definitely not planar, so projecting it flat will take some massaging.

Wrote a bit about my experience playing #Aardwolf #MUD

I think it's a really cool game. There's a few different layers of gameplay. There are systems that reward you for rapid seek and destroy missions, and there's deeply immersive and challenging puzzles that require learning the motives and weaknesses of NPCs.

Because MUDs are all plaintext, it's a great way for me to flex my #programming skills in a non-work context.

Community is pretty nice, a rich ecosystem of community documentation ( a euphemism , tbh, there's a lot of dead links and outdated content ), pretty active support for #MUSHClient and #Mudlet as a client

First off... I am NOT going to start tooting about this project ALL the time. Not until it hits certain milestones anyways. Mostly cause I no longer have the time nor -patience- to do it. If folks wanna find it they will. If they want to HELP, they will.

ANWYAYS...

It's about time I started making some decisions, one of those is that I need be more PROACTIVE on my own.

What that means is that I am trying to actively learn Rust. Although this -entire- week has basically told me to fuck off and do something else. <the end>

Having watched a couple of Youtube videos from a seemingly talented #RustDev I would like to use #YEW for the #FrontEnd. It seems like that nice blend of Rust built into an HTML framework that I am willing to compromise on. This would be instead of RucTE, Terra, Handlebars etc.

#Actix / #actixweb , and #diesel are still in play for the backend, and DB stuff as there's no good reason to change. And both of those play well with YEW as far as I am aware.

I wont say "stay tuned for updates" because I HONESTLY have no idea when that will ever happen.

BUT... IF you are a Rust dev, Noob Dev, or any kind of dev open to learning about the project... hit me up!

We're SO CLOSE to having a demosite going... I just dont know enough about how to tie the existing backend to the UI I started building... and its killing me.

Does #pleroma not have any kinda official #docker build? I was thinking of setting up my own social instance up again, but running a #mastodon instance has left a bad taste in my mouth due to how much resources it was using. I had a look at different #fediverse servers as well, like #Aardwolf and #friendica, but am unsure if they'll match the features and sleek interfaces that I'm looking for. Any comments/info/opinions about federated servers would be appreciated, especially from friendos and furs :blobfoxlurk2:
