The Abandon All Hope sign is glued together and ready for waterproofing. LEDs are working and nicely diffused.

Next step: attaching the hanging chains and an assortment of 3d printed bones. Gotta paint the bones first though.

The Abandon All Hope sign has a plywood backing, which prevents me from recessing the NodeMCU like I did with the Dead Man's Cove sign.

Unfortunately I'd already glued mylar sheets to the foam board face of the sign. The only way to prevent a conspicuous bulge in the middle of the sign was to carve out a space between the A and N.

The solution, as it is with so many projects, is a Dremel with a cutting wheel.

All of the soldering for the LED strips on the Abandon All Hope sign is done! No shorts or janky connections.

Next step is to finalize the position of the strips and hot-glue the connections for insulation. Be a real shame if this shorted out once it was closed up.

A few tricks I’ve learned when making complicated LED strip projects:
• you can get a little curve by folding your strip and then bending it, as in the B here
• the only connection that really needs to be made in series is the data line, at least for small numbers of LEDs
• the self adhesive backing is temporary at best! epoxy these strips down once you like the positioning.
