Judge Orders Texas to Remove Buoy 'Death Traps' From Rio Grande

"These inhumane traps were placed by Greg Abbott to harm and kill people who were just looking to move to survive and thrive," said one rights group.

Migrant rights groups and Texas Democrats on Wednesday welcomed a federal judge's order that the state remove from the Rio Grande about 1,000 feet of orange buoys fastened together with metal cables and anchored with concrete blocks.

@alexwild I can't even believe Biden is allowing this. #Abbott is in violation of the Geneva Conventions, which were ratified by Congress and part of the US law code. He is also in violation of our own laws that control our navigable waterways. The border is not between TX and Mexico, it is between the US and Mexico. Functionally, #Abbott has seceded from the Union and declared TX a separate country with sovereign over its own borders, in violation of the Constitution.

The Geneva Conventions are US law, not simple international agreements, ratified by Congress. It's as if #TX has seceded from the Union and declared its own international border with Mexico that supersedes US control. The NFL is missing a big opportunity here. Before the regular season begins, they should schedule joint team fights, where teams take the field and just start trying to break bones.
