Having spent the first 40 years of my life in Australia, and now living overseas, I can honestly say that I am yet to really miss Australia. I still follow some Aussie sports, and have been cheering the Matildas on in the World Cup. And keep in touch with family etc.
But the one thing that really evokes Aussie nostalgia, for me, is the sound of the Australian Magpie. From the fear I had of being swooped while riding my bike around as a kid, to loving having them around the garden and listening to their unique songs as an adult, they have always been there, and as I have grown, my appreciation and respect for them has grown also.
So, of course, it was very easy to choose a favourite Australian animal sound.

What Trent Zimmerman get completely wrong in his opinion piece in The Guardian about ABC is that the reason young people don't watch it is because in the past 10 years since LNP cut their funding and white-anted their management, the content is basically crap. It doesn't matter what platform it's shown on if the content is typical of the commercial channels. ABC comedy is about the only thing that isn't rubbish and that content gets good ratings on any media platform.
If we really want to fix ABC, sack the entire LNP chosen management board and directors and properly fund it.

ABC Australia used to be a media broadcaster that would bring Australians together socially and with balanced news and thoroughly researched information.
However, under the management of #NewsCorpse poisonous personalities Ita Buttrose, David Anderson and Justin Stevens, it has become a shell of its former organisation, full of right-wing opinions, dumbed-down reporting and narration of conversation that promotes racism and division. Those three have done such great harm to Australia that it is impossible to put a cost on it. And the current government are doing nothing to improve the situation.
I consider David Anderson to be the most destructive individual for media integrity in Australia. (Rupert is in USA)
