An ex coworker was in a wheelchair. She commented about the abelist nature of the term "daily standup" and how it irked her every time she heard it (because she couldn't "stand up"). She had a suggested replacement, but i've forgotten it. :(

Scrum calls this "a scrum" but i don't think that's widely adopted / understood.

What non-abelist term would you suggest for replacing "standup".

@dianor Hmm. I admit I have not read the #book. There is the obvious Foucauldian element happening. As someone who comes from that sub-population where #ECT is a very real thing, I find the connections she makes in her video for the book to be rather offensive.

There are many other ways to discuss power and mass #trauma without equating it to treatments for #mentalillness. It is #abelism. I was fortunate enough to decline ECT. #NaomiKlein speaks from ignorance.

I traced back some of the exchanges you had with totally and wilfully ignorant people who didn't (want to?) understand why you call out the #abelism in action at #anarchy2023 as well as their total lack of #Covid protections. No surprise that you feel such a deep disappointment with people. Apart from #mask rules, they could have arranged air purifiers (like the cheap DIY #CorsiRosenthalBox).

Reading about the train situation however shows that egoism won over empathy there 🤦

I was crying for hours yesterday. I hate being a woman. If I was a man with this level of pain, I think they would have at least given me an xray by now! But instead I'm made to feel like a liar that constantly has to prove myself even though I have NOTHING to gain from lying. I want to work and miss my job. I want to do normal things. I'm going to ask to switch doctors because I've had it with her. A week after my total hysterectomy I went to see her crying and in agony and she actually suggested I stop all of my medications! That I need to function! The last time I went to see her was because of a sexual problem and she actually laughed and she said she didn't know what that was and that was that. I'm a nurse, a COLLEAGUE and she doesn't believe me so what hope does anyone else have 😔

I realized today that my #bpd (borderline personality disorder) is considered a cluster b type personality.
