Since the #ablation season started the #Greenland #iceSheet has been melting fast - around 60% of the #ice sheet has seen melt at the surface + we calculate it has lost around 5 to 6 Gigatonnes of water each day from melt and runoff alone over the last 3 days.

Of course you have to add the loss of icebergs on top of that too...
But the late start season + late #snow, means overall it is still well above average #SMB for the time of year.

Just because the ice sheet is melting, does not mean it's losing ice - much of the melt actually refreezes in the deep snow pack so we @polarportal@bird.makeup @polarportal define the start of the #ablation (that is #ice loss) season as the first of 3 days where there is at least 1 Gigatonne of surface melt AND runoff, more in this news item.

4thtime on #road bike since heart surgery. Was over ambitious trying to climb Bwlch Groes last week (turned back after 45mins of climbing.. legs gave out not my heart.) Today on the flat felt a bit down about so many guys passing me but it turns out they were in a race : ) 👍🏻 getting fitter

It's #date night. We're watching movies and cuddling, because I'm still recovering from #ablation.

What a rough week!
I had a nerve #ablation intervention 2 weeks ago.
Initial indications, if the effect of the local #anaesthetic were anything to by?
Were great, unfortunately?
The relief didn't last and when the anaesthetic wore off?
The pain ramped back up.
I am finding myself more and more reliant on #painkillers to function and it's a miserable existence.
My family are bloody martyrs for putting up with my grumpiness as well as they do.

I have only left my house once in the last 9 days, and that was visiting the family for Christmas Eve. I had an #ablation on my #heart and decided I would take some very needed down time after. I have been working on my #software and hanging out with my #dogs. I have immensely enjoyed indulging in my natural #introvert nature and really I could probably spend another two weeks at home and not get bored. Alas, tomorrow I'm venturing out anyway. It's good that my dogs get me out of the house.

Last Aug had my 5th #Ablation for #Atrialfibrillation. After 2nd opp I was AFv free for more than a decade. Since the 3rd my symptoms have been controlled by Beta blockers .In the last 5 years I have never got out of breath I just go into oxygen debt and can't raise my intensity or PR over 100
Today on the Turbo I managed a sustained 5 minute effort where my pulse was up in the 120s and my breathing became a good sort of heavy.
It was a beautiful feeling.Fingers crossed

On Monday I had my first heart ablation to hopefully cure my AFib. These two images are from my #Fitbit heart monitor and show my normal sinus rhythm and my abnormal rhythm. It can take up to 90 days for the #ablation to work because it's the scar tissue that prevents the #heart muscles from misfiring. So I am occasionally still going into #AFib. I do keep hearing #McCoy's voice saying it would be barbaric to open someone up and burn their heart muscles as a cure. I watch too much #StarTrek

I've been going into #Afib almost every night since August. Even with the #meds I'm on. I don't know if I'd ever get used to it. I have an #ablation scheduled in a couple of weeks. I hope that stops the #flutter but I know there is no guarantee. I have gotten less concerned, though, and usually rolling over will get me back into #NornalSinusRhythm. Goodness rhythm is an odd word. #heart #HeartBeat #NSR
