When manning my poster, however, I was surprised at how many times I found myself having to justify from scratch what ABMs are and why they're used. I'd like to see a broader penetration of this important tool into the conference community, and am considering proposing an ABM tutorial for next year.

Some Italian cities placed in made-up #generative #maps. These dummy maps are obtained by partially randomizing the relative distance between cities. Fictitious coastline and terrain are added for aesthetics using Perlin noise.
Partial randomization of geographic features (e.g. cities) can be a useful tool to generalize results from empirically-calibrated, spatially-explicit agent-based models (#abm).
