I love books and read a lot. I try and read about 4/5 non-fiction books a month and will use #ABookYouShouldRead to talk about them.
I love science fiction (often military scifi although the lurch to open fascism is alarming!), fantasy (with authentic/coolthentic) worlds blends of the two.
I enjoy stories with hope in rather than absolute grimness. 3/T
Hench by Natalie Zina Walschots is about a temp who works for supervillains until an encounter with a hero changes her life forever.
- Despite the fantasy it's grounded in modern (American) life and the precariat hard scrabble for health care and basic respect from employers.
- bi woman protagonist
If you liked Drew Hayes "Forging Hephaestus" or Austin Grossman's "Soon I will be invincible" then you will probably like this!

You should read "The Golem and the Djinni" by Helen Wecker.
You should read it because:
- it's very charming in its depiction of 18th Century New York
- It mixes golems and djinn as concepts into a unified whole with thought and sensitivity being all sorts of lovely to semitic peoples
- the themes of being an outsider and finding community are touching.
You will like it if you read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.
