As part of our work in Seychelles, we are monitoring disease in all of the region's #amphibians (Seychelles is the only amphibian inhabited region in the world that is likely #chytrid free), monitoring #ClimateChange, trying to help enhance habitat and build in-country capacity

I (@Simon_Maddock) work on several projects around the world including understanding the #biology, #taxonomy and #conservation of Seychelles #caecilians. If you haven't heard about caecilians before then let me change that! They are a truly amazing group of legless #amphibians with a tropical distribution and most species live underground.

As well as teaching and research, I (@Simon_Maddock) think it is critical to do #PublicEngagement and I regularly try to participate or organise as many events as possible. For example, I have just got back from a w/e organising #VenomDay2022 (see pic) which I have been organising since 2009 and I can't believe how many awesome #venom connoisseurs there are, including lotsssss of members of the general public! As usual, this year there were so many fascinating talks!

I (@Simon_Maddock) teach on a range of modules linking to diversity, genetics, conservation and fieldwork skills on the BSc Animal Behaviour & Wildlife Conservation (https://tinyurl.com/464wfsww) and MSc/MRes Wildlife Conservation (https://tinyurl.com/yvetzb62 https://tinyurl.com/4eak32ps). I try to make my lectures fun and engaging and try to incorporate activities and practical elements into my teaching as much as possible.

Hi everyone!
I am Dr Simon Maddock (@Simon_Maddock) and I have the pleasure of being the first person to do the #ABWCSocialMediaTakeover. I have been at University of Wolverhampton for 5 years and I am currently a Senior Lecturer in Conservation Genetics. Most of my research involves using #reptiles, #amphibians & #mammals as models to study #ecology, #evolution & #PopulationGenetics. This work has the aim of understanding more about a species that we can then use to help w. #conservation
