interesting to see how climate protest movements, and their repression by the state, are leading many "progressive" or green people, who are probably middle class and white and rather centrist in various ways, to see that the role of the police is to prevent anything from happening and to maintain the channels and arterials of accumulation and its violences in working order, no matter the human or environmental cost.

a telling moment was when i saw an older petty bourgeois woman in recent french protests quoted as saying "i'm with black bloc now". (presumably she was "with" them not because of political unity, but because in the social conflict she saw how the different players really act, behind the veil of mass media deception, and so understood why black bloc is black bloc.)

it's "interesting", because it perhaps leads to a new configuration or situation, but i also don't hold out much hope that this will lead to much. or, let's not get over-hasty with our pessimism and instead ask, what would it mean if the repression of climate protests led to a far greater fraction of the middle class to have a similar realisation to that woman?

Je suis pas toujours fan du acab mais les deux collages côte a côte vont bien.
