, most commonly known as the golden , is a tree native to southeastern Australia.

Snapped this just now.

It grows to a height of 8 m (26 ft) and has quite unique flattened leaf stalks (best description), instead of true leaves.

My childhood home had one of these on the nature strip. It was at least three times the breadth of this one pictured and a balanced rounded shape. Well, maybe an overestimation of its size, based on my younger-self’s recollection. But it was big and bloomed like crazy during time.

Golden flowers appear in abundance, during late winter.

They’re profusely fragrant, especially late in the season. Sometimes (on larger trees) they’re so pungent, you’d easily get a whiff 50 feet away, down wind.
