Using #AI to develop the writer, rather than the writing.
Al can be used to fix grammar mistakes or reword writing to be 'more academic' but this is unlikely to improve the writers knowledge or skills.
However using Al as a tool for brainstorming or to provide potential options of structure and organisation to writing. By using it as scaffolding while constantly reflecting on the feedback.

Do you sometimes re-write a piece of text and think it's awesome only to re-read it some days later and think WTF was I thinking?
Yeah, that's me.

Have you tried #ChatGPT yet, either for #academicWriting , #coding , or just to see what it can do?
#AI #privacy
I got annoyed when it asked for my phone number, and therein ended my first attempt. I kept thinking of that saying, "If it's free, then you're the product." I have been known to over-react.

βοΈ I love proofreading history texts.
βοΈ I've just finished working on a peer-reviewed archaeology article and am about to start on a doctoral thesis.
βοΈ Take a look at my website and get in touch if I can help with your words.

Made good progress on my latest article today. Didn't quite hit my goal of submitting it today, as I'll give it one final read-through with fresh eyes tomorrow and then go through the submission process. Still, I feel great about the progress and can finally see the finish line. βΊοΈ
It's the final 10% that takes the most time.

Looking for advice:
Is Arial 11 too small for a #projectproposal? In my experience Arial 12 is too big, but I am happy to hear your opinion on this.

I started this thing of reporting my daily writing progress as a way for accountability, as suggested by @StephenBHeard.
Happy to say that today I got around 350 words written down. It involved two online writing sessions with a friend who is also an #AcademicMom. We are both back from work after a maternity leave (hers longer than mine) and started this to help push each other.
Who else wants to join?

I read as much as I can manage and able read to one book a month. It's mostly for pleasure and fiction. But realized I do better #AcademicWriting the following week or two.
Anyway, this is the oldest one I've ever read, The Mayor of Casterbridge, by Thomas Hardy, first published almost 140 years ago ! Took two weekends to finish. Loved the style, a flow of events sprinkled with inner thoughts of characters and description of places.
I just found a post I wrote some time ago on large collaborative writing efforts. I would not use this approach while a student though! #Academic #AcademicWriting #Anthropology #Collaboration
