How does everyone self-edit their writing? My supervisor is already reading a chapter but I have an article (maybe) ready to go. Usually I get my sister to read it and then use the read aloud feature on Word so I can get an idea about how well it flows.

A lot of the arguments on listservs and other fora about how Twitter has become crucial to academic life are kind of strange- the idea that one's social media branding is more important than actual published scholarship seems to reverse what the academy is actually about - words on page - in favor of networking being the most important #academicchatter #academicdon
