Some reasoning about , , . All of this is second hand understanding, so I'm looking for interventions against my misunderstanding. Basic view:

1. Higher departmental prestige tracks higher concern with research output and lower concern with teaching merit in hiring + tenure review.

Thus,
2.: Prestige is unlikely to track teaching merit.

3. Given 2., 3.: It is unlikely that prestige tracks teaching-driven student outcomes.
