Search committees shouldn’t request letters of recommendation from candidates until the phone interview stage, at the earliest. Take the pressure off of the candidates, their mentors, and the committee members.

If you're not already teaching directly from your notetaking app, you should seriously consider it. Some advantages:

1) It's easier to craft lectures in the same place you keep your source material.

2) As you're lecturing, you can access all your sources instantly.

3) As you lecture, you can keep a teaching log in real time about what's working and what's not.

4) It's incredibly easy to recycle your material for future lectures.
