Yesterday, we had a very successful working afternoon at @freieuniversitaet Eltern-Kind-Zimmer located at the @fubcp. I'm not sure this would work for a long sesh of work, but it did for some hours, and the older one even napped for an hour. Geat help for #AcademicParents!

Today is a day of great discoveries:
1) my computer crashed as always because I never turn it off and I discovered that I can RESTORE all the pdfs that I was reading!
2) @shakiguani introduced me to https://cuckoo.team/ to do pomodoros with other people. This is perfect as I often meet with other #academicmom s to "work together" at a distance.

I promised myself to stay positive and just do as much as I can during these fucking winter months. But after 3 weeks of having some kid sick, sleep like shit and horrible weather, I can't keep the optimism. It sucks.

On top of that, I have to find time to prepare applications because you know, shitty 2-year postdoc contracts....
So if you're on a selection committee and are wondering why women don't apply in the same numbers as guys, this is why.

Today I’m trying really hard to be kind to myself. No, I did not manage to finish the work that I promised to finish. It’s still sitting there on my desk, half done, accusingly staring at me. But I did invest the hours that I get payed for and that has to be enough, especially after a rough week with little sleep and a sick toddler at home. Time for weekend. Work can wait.

Ok, so now we are at day #6 of art last one of kids vomiting. Toddler is having meltdowns every hour and now there're 2 cases of corona in his group. Things are going awesome 👌

My personal take on the experience:
It was very nice to lead such initiative, but also stressful at times. In fact I submitted the proofs of the paper, while having Braxton Hicks contractions, the day before my second baby was born. Quite a ride.
