I just did an hour long virtual meeting in which I was co-presenting the WHOLE TIME whilst solo parenting kids and pup.

My current project is adjusting to not being in "thesis writing mode." I am being patient with myself. I did my paid work this morning. I did a few sewing repairs. I am dusting off my to-read pile. Taking my cues from the pup (snuggle, sleep, eat, play, walk). I wrote my thesis #SlowlySlowlySlowly so I am going to recover slowly. It has been four days since I've submitted so I suspect I might need a few more days to adjust.

I am reading journal articles on my topic with my feet up on the couch, there is a brief moment of quiet with #VirtualSchool , the pup is asleep, the windows are open, the air quality is good, I can hear the birds singing, and I just found the line that I have been looking for!

Day 4: All done! Less than 7% of all books didn't scan, all unscanned books were children's books save 4! So glad to be finished! Hopefully won't have to do this again for a long time! Positive experience with LibraryThing tho the app did close periodically and could be a bit glitchy but overall effective. All #HomeLibrary #Books cataloged! Nice to get a sense of what areas have grown since I did this last. Nice #PhDLife overview!

Fed up and burnt out: ‘quiet quitting’ hits academia

Many researchers dislike the term, but the practice of dialling back unrewarded duties is gaining traction.

#Boundaries around work have saved me. I have taken work emails off phone. When I finish for the day, I am done. I schedule meetings around caregiving responsibilities. I'm still busy and excited to cut back further but I'm less stressed.

That feeling when you have finished the section you were writing but the puppy has you pinned on the couch for nap time so you just have to bask in puppy snuggles and be pleased. Your writing is done for the day. Pup says so.

So close. So FREAKING close. So close I'm crying. But trying not to wake the puppy. Slowly, slowly, slowly is gonna drag this thesis over the finish line.

Average of one "it is not possible to keep all these balls in the air and I am failing miserably" tantrum per week so far this term. Vast improvement over last semester!

Explaining to therapist that while I understand the theoretical benefit of being vulnerable with friends that life has changed.

I used to have lunches with friends & time to discuss everything from the mundane to the traumatic and everything in between. Now I find myself eating chicken nuggets in the shower whilst unpeeling my HR chest strap as I transition from a lunchtime run & pharmacy trip to a virtual meeting.
