@DrSuzanne Journals can partner with #SciFlow in order to get their templates into the system. Authors type simply in markdown, can connect their #Zotero library and focus purely on #AcademicWriting.

Institutions on the other hand, may subscribe to SciFlow to get their employees access to the service. Fin. Works like a charm (in theory).

Sadly, I have not yet published anything in a journal whose template is available at SciFlow.

Our train writing retreat was such a great success - only for a high up person to question why we bought 1st class tickets (which is against travel policy) so now I have to write a debrief report explaining that we did write on the train and didn’t just travel…and why writing in standard class wouldn’t have worked for a retreat 🤦🏻‍♀️ just let us do our job #ResearcherDevelopment #AcademicWriting

Ok. So the thing’s due tomorrow, and I have a completed draft. Around 10 000 words, and I would think I wrote about 8 000 of them today…

Feels strange to be nearly done (Someone is kindly reading through it and will be giving feedback tonight. Please let it make sense 🙏). In fact, after sending the last file for review, I promtly fell asleep, and now I feel like I’ve been beaten up.

It’s due tomorrow. 5 years of my academic life, reduced to a few pages.

Not sure if sb proposed this already: wouldn't adding #paragraph numbers to #research #papers make #academic #discussion easier? Instead of: "the idea in paper XYZ on page 294, left column, 3rd §, last sentence" you could say "the idea in paper XYZ in §3, last sentence". Moreover, I see potential benefits for #automatic #document #processing and even the writing process itself: authors would maybe stick more closely to the 1-paragraph-1-idea concept. #academicwriting Are there any such approaches to improve structure in the academic #discourse?

Today writing feels like making a puzzle. Moving a paragraph here, adding one there. Moving it again. Don't know if this sub-chapter still has a thread. But who cares for a clear argument. 🙈😂

Today I seem to have hit upon a new and interesting way of being «productive» with my writing: write 10-20 words, then check my mail, check Bluesky, check Mastodon. Write something on one of them. Or all 3. Go to the kitchen and consider a snack. Stop and look out the window along the way there. And on the way back, just in case something’s changed.

Repeat.
