The WordPress plugin #Accessibe has been (temporairely) closed because of cross site scripting.
Let's hope they can't fix that, like they can't fix accessibility.

#AccessibilityOverlay question:

Today during my user testing, it happened that the widget button disappeared after making changes in the #accessiBe widget and then navigating the website. For example, the participant navigated from the Home to the About page. As soon as they reached the About page, the widget was gone. Only after reloading the website did the widget appear again, but 50% of the time, the changes made were lost.

Has anybody else experienced the same thing? We used Chrome. 🤔

@munchkinbear @Meepercat Oh man. Well, as far as I'm concerned, he's an unsalvageable fuck-up who's proved, beyond all doubt, that he's not to be trusted. I'm definitely keeping my #AccessiBe network block in place.

For reference, my guide to blocking #AccessiBe still resides at https://sclower.github.io/accessibegone. Admittedly, that's a bit complex, so if you use a Chromium-based browser, grab the #AccessiByeBye extension instead.

The CEO of #AccessiBe is doing a "we're sorry we screwed up" tour across the internet, and claims he's apologized privately to those who have been fucked over by his company's tech. If so, I'm not one of them (despite my having had to create a guide to help people block their overlay from even loading). So until I get an apology or they take the product offline, I'm calling bullshit on the whole thing.

Meanwhile, don’t forget that I showed #accessiBe spoofing WAVE in 2020 and it is still doing so.

Apparently the accessiBe CEO apology tour does not include apologizing for continuing to lie to WAVE users.

Though I avoid birdsite, I just found if you search for tweets with #accessiBe and #IDPD2022, you get 30 image tweets with images ostensibly provided by accessiBe.

Only 3 of them have alt text; one replicates the entirety of the tweet.
