Protip for hashtags: Be sure to capitalize each word so VoiceOver and other screen readers can actually read it. The capitalized letter helps the software know when a word starts and ends, which in turn helps blind users who rely on the screen readers to navigate on social media. #AccessibilityAwareness #Accessibility

If you know me, you know I'm a big proponent of getting people to use more hashtags. They are super important to the way content on Mastodon is indexed.

That said,

I wasn't aware that using tags inline in sentences ( like #this ) causes accessibility issues for those with screen readers.

The more we learn together, the better it will be for everyone.
