I installed the cat version of Bitlife to give it a try. I quite enjoy Bitlife, I love cats, and the game uses the Unity accessibility plugin. So I fired up the iOS app store, searched for 'cat life', found the game, downloaded it, launched it... only to find that I'm physically locked out of the game because I can't accept the damn privacy policy! The accept button is greyed out, and there's no checkbox or anything to unlock it. Tapping randomly on the screen with VoiceOver turned off didn't help either. #accessibility #AccessibilityFail

@KaraLG84 @ppatel @jscholes @devinprater It’s not a matter of “powerful enough” I had Newton MessagePad 130 that ran a text-to-speech engine. 20MHz, 2.5 MB of RAM. I promise you lack of TTS is not a _technology_ problem. It’s negligence in product design. You might trade off quality but any phone made in the past 20 years can do TTS. #accessibility #accessibilityfail

The irony of seeing a screen shot with a little "alt" tag in the corner (meaning there was alt text for the original image, I think?) but there's no alt text for this screen shot of the image.
Not gonna link because it's pretty common and I don't want to call out any single individual.

🙄 Oh, the irony! 🚫 #Reddit finally decides to make itself unusable for blind people, but hey, who needs #accessibility, right? 🤷♀️ Meanwhile, over on Twitter, it's become nothing but an echo chamber for Elon Musk and his wacky buddies. Can't get enough of those grandiose proclamations and eccentric tweets! 🐦🚀 So glad we're prioritizing meaningful conversations and inclusivity in our social media platforms. Not. 😒 #AccessibilityFail #TwitterEchoChamber #PrioritiesOutOfWhack

I tried later on my MacBook rather than persist with the PC. Same pdrop down box presented a problem. This time, the list could not be accessed at all.
I emailed the contact to report the problem & got an Out Of Office saying the respondent will be back in January.
Not very impressive since I suspect a lot of people trying to complete the survey will be screen reader users. You’d think they’d try to make the survey accessible.

@ucaccessnow Wow, that's messed up 😔
Is there a #AccessibilityFail hashtag? (if not, there is now!)

It's a damn shame the Diaspora social network site has a barrier to entry for screen reader users right away...the sign up form has a graphic challenge with no audio option. #AccessibilityFail
another update from spitfire audio.
Still no Accessibility in the app even after 4 years of trying.
Absolute fucking lipservice!.

@Rasp Is there a tag for #AccessibilityFail? Because that definitely would qualify.
This piece is interesting, but most relevant to me is that it doesn't mention the accessibility bots that will die along with the funny/entertaining/interesting/just plain weird ones.

Tired of places that don’t have handicapped buttons for doors. It’s so awkward to navigate my rollator without them, plus I also use a service dog, so it makes it so much harder to make sure doors don’t hit her while I’m trying to awkwardly get my rollator through. I can’t imagine how much more difficult it is for those using wheelchairs. This should not still be an issue in 2023. #Accessibility #AccessibilityFail

People who have access to paywalled articles/studies, and post huge chunks of text as images (on any social media platform), as part of a discussion on the topic, but who cannot be arsed, ever, to add alt-text, are, as far as I'm concerned, assholes.
Especially when they're journalists or college professors with large social media followings; don't tell me no one has suggested they make their content accessible--I can't be the only one asking them. Repeatedly.
I totally messed up with accessibility today. I forgot to use captions on the zoom presentation - darnit, I am usually on top of it... I did include them in later sessions, but the important one - DANGIT I just forgot.
Noted for next week's big meeting.

Shopping tonight was pretty tough. The large supermarket had NO employees around to help anyone, anywhere! There were multiple items I needed, but I couldn't reach from my mobility device. Hubby was with me most of the time but at one point I went after one thing in one area while he went after another and what I went after I couldn't reach. Nobody had bothered to move the items forward on the shelves (ANY of them, anywhere!) and so many were totally inaccessible to anyone without a long arm and the physical ability to stand right against shelves and stretch back...thank God for an incredibly polite young man (college age, maybe?) who said, "I can't just walk past when you are obviously struggling, what can I do to help?" and reached the item easily, then handed it to me. YES, Virginia, there are still wonderful young people in the world!

frustrating #accessibilityFail - posts with alt text that just repeats the post text word for word. Nobody wants to just hear the post repeated; I'm guessing it's worse than no alt text (but if someone with more experience in #accessibility wants to chime in, be my guest)
#accessibilityfail #accessibility
I just saw a post go by where the alt-text was used to add a pull quote and book title, but no description of the image itself was present--which contained exactly zero text.
Please, I beg you, don't do that shit.
@Jorah Yikes! That sounds like a major, and dangerous, #accessibility #FAIL. ☹
