People who provide a plain english version of documents or info is so very appreciated especially when Im struggling with cognitive disfunction/brain fog. Its amazing how often information, even specifically directed at disabled people is unclear, jargon laden bureaucratic language thats difficult to parse and requires an acronym decoder. #mecfs #Disability #accessibilty

Is there a Mastodon client for iOS that supports the addition of alt-text to images when using the share sheet?
@ivory requires that I share the image, then go back and edit the post to add the alt-text, which is more friction than I’d like.
Maybe a shortcut?

Twice in the last five minutes my @privacybrowser has run into websites displaying a banner "This site works best with #Javascript enabled." Of course, the sites didn't work AT ALL with Javascript deactivated.
Ironically, one site had been redone by a firm specializing in #Accessibilty for conformance with #AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) and #WCAG standards. You'd think they'd use language like "activated" and "deactivated" for software instead of "en/disabled".

Jebus, Instagram is *terrible* for accessibility! I stumbled on how you can add alt-text to an image (you need to be using a browser) and added it to the two images I was posting. On the app - there's no way to access the alt-text!
I'm guessing #Threads is going to be as poor?

Something I’m seeing repeatedly now is long poll options that cut off, so mobile users can’t read them in there entirety.
Apologies if I’m using your poll in my examples, I’m not trying to call you out or anything, I just want to have examples.
Please keep that in mind while making polls, or maybe some dev’s could implement some kind of text-wrapping/scrolling.
Trying to leave Paypal, I checked the outline of the page listing Messages (https://www.paypal.com/smc/async/home).
One more reason to leave this service I’m not using anymore.

More info on parenting a young person with #DownSyndrome This is an exercise in #accessibilty The store shelves are too high for Alice to grab a carton of broth without bringing down a couple with it. I knew this was on her list so I turned one carton sideways so she can grab it when she goes by.
We have reached iOS 16.5 and Apple's "Learn more..." panel for their Software Updates still doesn't respect the user setting for font size and continues to be inaccessible as a consequence. On the plus side, links are no longer completely illegible in dark mode. On the negative side, this means someone has finally noticed after all these years that this panel is shit but that's the only thing they've opted to changed. The irony is not lost on me for #GAAD.

I follow a ton of #travel #blogs that specialize in various ways. Today I appreciate this post about #accessibilty in Delta One Suite on the Airbus A350. I appreciate how the internet and rss allows me to follow and read a huge variety of content that is outside of what I think I want to know. https://wheelchairtravel.org/review-wheelchair-accessibility-delta-one-suite-airbus-a350-los-angeles-sydney/
hey gamedevs! take a look at this! it's a site with a bunch of checklists of accessibility features and design decisions
every checkbox has a whole page dedicated to giving a further explanation and providing real-world examples of how people have implemented them in games you might already know of
its also broken up into different levels of difficulty to implement, so you can approach it at your own pace and however works best for you

Please could you use alt text when posting images so that the content is accessible to everyone. Thank you. #accessibilty
Any of my #music folks here going in-person to #NewMusicGathering in Portland in June? I am feeling very ambivalent about going, even though my opera with Lisa Neher, Sense of Self, will be performed live. The organizers do not seem to be committed to #accessibilty, #masking, #Covid safety, reasonable schedules, and other things, so I am worried. I am committed to supporting & attending only conferences that have strong online participation goals and planning, so... Thoughts appreciated. #NewMusic #NewOpera #Opera
