Try starting with Narrator, if you haven't already. The team has put a lot of work into improving it over what came before, and it has solid browser support these days.

I just read a heartbreaking thread on the bird site about how Twitter’s decision to shut down its free API is going to cut off access to accessibility bots used by the blind and visually impaired communities. I didn’t think I could hate Musk any more than I already did but it turns out I can. F*ck Twitter and f*ck Musk. Please folks let’s make this site as welcoming and accessible to these communities as we can.

This episode of AirSpace, a podcast from the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, features an in-depth discussion of Alt-Text: what it is, who it’s for, and why it’s important and growing in use in digital media. Check it out.

Friendly reminder to please put image descriptions! I've been seeing more and more people do it the past couple of months, but I'm still seeing some users not do it. It really helps with !

@melezhik going to just say that as someone who needs large fonts, badges on repos suck. They, without exception, don’t scale, become unreadable, and look positively terrible.

matters and repo badges don’t have it.

I'm not blind myself but I think programmers should have to wear a blindfold for at least a few days out of the year, so they would be forced to think about screen reader accessibility

Just a reminder that when you write alt text you don't need to include "photo of" at the beginning. Generally screen readers go ahead and make that distinction.

What is the best way to indicate emphasis for people who use screen readers? I sometimes use asterisks (*) or all caps (CAPS) but are these user friendly? Is there a best option that is both communicative and does not confuse the screen readers? Tried a quick online search to learn. If answer is obvious and I need to just keep looking, feel free to let me know to educate myself.

How do you/can you camelCase hashtags acronyms in a screen reader friendly way?

Does work, is what I'm asking.

Today, I'm sitting down to write and record my accessibility review of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

If you've got any accessibility related questions you'd like to see answered, reply and let me know.
