Im just imagining, this how some years back the email came and evolved, everyone can have their own domain for the email address, and all corporates has taken over it and am every other companies. Now this #Federation stuff and #ActicityPub are going to be the main stream! All will adapt it slowly!

I feel like 20 years ago a #journalist would come to the #fedivere in search of evidence, witnesses, and stories. Mastodon and the #acticitypub protocol would be a communication tool like the phone.

Today, most journalists come here to promote their work because news is now entertainment. Clicks are currency and we are prisoners of capitalism.

I see it happening that one day #Twitter will implement the #acticitypub protocol and join the #fediverse.

I currently have two big feature requests for the fediverse:

# Reply Backfill
I understand that that's because of how #ActicityPub works. Each instance only knows about content by accounts that at least one user was subscribed to when it was posted. But most fediverse software got an API which could be used (maybe on an app level #tusky) to load more replies from the server of the original poster. On the web, I often click through to the original post, but on the apps, that's too cumbersome.

@cj@mastodon.technology I'm new to this space. One of my observations is that #ActicityPub related specs are using JSON-LD and similar tech that could be technically sound, but not the language of a typical software developer. Have you thought about a more typical IDL for this purpose?
