We need Self-Sovereign Social Network Protocols that set ground rules for self-organized and self-moderated communities. I want to take my social graph and audience with me and do something useful for this relationship. I want to unlock this relationship.

でもね、Metaは広告で儲けたいので、当然Metaのインスタンスは広告が躍ることに。Metaは商業ベースでないFediverse で得たコンテンツで顧客を引き付けて、広告を見せることで儲ける。

なんかおかしくないですか？

I'm trying to use #Pixelfed for a few weeks and I wonder why people use Instagram. It's so much nicer and practical to have the possibility to share your photos cross platform!

And people using other platforms can still interact with you without needing to register or login on a new website.

Here in Germany there are more concerns about #privacy, so it seems to have more people using Pixelfed instead of #facebook stuff.

The interactions between #BookWyrm and #Mastodon remain misteriouse to me (or is this an #ActivePub or an instance issue)

Looking at my BookWyrm account @realn2s@bookwyrm.social from Mastodon I see that there are 3 posts but I don't see the post. There should be more than 3 posts and there should be newer ones as well.

On Tusky my follow request ist pending.
In the web ui I'm following (i stay directed at least in the mobile ui it's also in the requested state)
On the @bookwyrm instance I don't have followers and also no follow requests.

This could also be an synchronisation/temporal issue but it's already ~10 hours in this state

One issue is #moderation which federation doesn't really solve, only compartmentalise. #SomebodyElsesProblem.

Of greater interest is #interoperability. Can be handled if you you make a #platform like Mastodon, but what if you just want to make a federated service (like mentioned @photos)? Is the bother greater than the benefit?

Mensch könnte es auch positiv sehen: #Mastodon als Lokomotive, die #ActivePub und #Fediverse zu größerer Bedeutung zieht.

For over a decade there are discussions about federated social network platforms. I remember, for instance, of #Diaspora gaining some momentum after #Facebook's scandal, but it was never like what's happening now with #Mastodon. It seems there #Twitter, conceptually simpler than Facebook, and its new administration are making possible a real diaspora. And hopefully #ActivePub can be a protocol to enable communication crossplatforms. I'm impressed on how fast things are developing now.

I tried to add two profiles on platforms using software different than #Mastodon, #Pleroma, and #Pixelfeld (@Enfors and @andre, respectively), but also #ActivePub, and it worked quite well! Nice! 🙂

As someone who uses Tumblr as a blog, I love that they're going to implement #activepub. It means I can continue to use Tumblr for longer posts and Mastodon for short posts and following can happen cross platform.

As I've already mentioned, I like photography so I thought I might set up a pixelfed account to show my photos.

It turned into a frustrating experience since it seems most of the popular servers aren't accepting new members and when signing up to smaller ones the email verification doesn’t work. (Maybe this is what people find frustrating about Mastodon, I found it quite easy to find an instance, but perhaps I got lucky).

In my ideal world, I’d host my own instance and have several different feeds formatted for different content types. One feed for photographs, one feed for long form essays, one feed short form nonsense.

Achieving this looks fairly hard at the moment, but I guess it's something I could do if I put my mind to it. Don’t know if I’m keen to start down this path, as it seems like it could be a bit of a rabbit hole.
