#ActivityPub was an "accidental" #openweb reboot, it exists because the #dotcons turned up at the #wc3 meeting did not find anything useful for themselves so left the “weirdos” to get on with building a #4opens aproch. The “weirdos” manage to hold things together long enough to get the #activertypub standard through the open but burocratic process and pushed it out to the world.

The #FEP is a good grassroots initiative, that is "névé" and troubling as it lacks "meaning" and is running as a "hobby" project with little if any social buy in.

NOTE: no amount of technical thinking/tinkering will add "meaning" as this is a social, not a technical problem.

The "protocol wars" on the #openweb such as #bluesky, #Nostr, and #activertypub. That building bridges between these protocols can be a good solution, as it is a permissionless way to connect different protocols without needing to get the codebase to change their project. The protocols are all #4opens and #openweb native, which is a positive development. However, the cultures of these protocols are different and can create messiness in the discussions.

#Nostr has bridged, well actually this history is a little mad, it was #truthsocial crew who wrote the code to bridge #Nostr to #Activertypub, you could not make this stuff up.

Bridges are need, we should piss on any new protocols that don't have at least one bridge to an existing #openweb protocol, and pissing is not just a metaphor, it helps to short out their servers.

The value we are all talking about, the #openweb #fediverse based on #activertypub is a very good example of this issue. The group that pushed through the speck only goes this through the formal consensuses process because the #dotcons were not interested in owning the outcome as it had no "value" to them. The speck was done as unpaid, unfunded #DIY labour, this is where almost all value actually comes from when you lift the lid on the current mess.

The closed source crew of both #fluffy (many progressive #NGO types) to the #spiky, the capitals dressed in #fashernesta cloth are flooding into our dispute subcultures we have built with and about this #ActivertyPub tech. Neath of these groups are aware of the mess they create is a positive view of what will be happening over the next month's.

We need an effective way of communicating that all value on the #fedivers is cultural, the tech itself is a product of this #openweb culture. The #activertypub speck is an accident of this culture not being swamped become the #mainstreaming was not interested at the time

We have increasing number of funders pouring money down the drain in #fedivers tech, when the source of the value #openweb culture that created this new "commons" is swamped by the mainstreaming agenda.
