#FediConf / #ActivitypubConf is not something which became an yearly event, did it? I am wondering if this might be something we need to have to strength interoperability.

Watching more talk from the recent #ActivityPub conference. Here's a very interesting one that talks about bringing #groups to the fediverse, so that we could decouple hosting an instance and moderating the content. It also introduces https://bonfire.cafe, which I need to look more into because I'm really intrigued.

Following a successful inaugural conference in 2019, we have expanded APConf 2020 to a four day event that will occur entirely on line via Big Blue Button!

Actually I met Mark Miller last weekend in Prague where he keynoted the #ActivityPubConf, and I have been watching @cwebber's ongoing work on OCAP.

But still, I'd love to find some #Ruby implementation :)

So where are all of the #ActivityPubConf videos or where are they going to be? I'm pretty surprised to not see #Peertube links popping left and right, but maybe I'm just following the wrong people... 😢

I'm sure there's a lovely PeerTube host out there willing to help with hosting (or a few that federate with each other, if we want to distribute the load)

If you have the footage and getting them edited etc is the issue @cwebber then hit me up.

@314 #APConf and #ActivityPubConf refer to the same event. I started using #APconf as it's shorter to type, but @maloki noted that the longer form means something for a user of a screen reader, which is why #ActivityPubConf is the preferred form, which I used more specifically on the second day of the conference.

Takeaways from the #activitypubconf

1. SharedInbox is dead (look out for MultiBox and OcapsPub)

2. Strong interest to explore Object Capabilities as a way to secure social introductions, power delegation and transitivity, and to develop effective cooperation tools that prevent abuse in the #Fediverse

3. There should be a dedicated #ActivityPub devroom at #FOSDEM2020

Q: how do we learn ocaps programming idoms?

A: pay attention to UI so that users do not have to understand how it works but can use it intuitively, safely and securely, to provide the naming integrity properties.

Regarding ocaps itself, the forms of patterns of ocaps are very similar to OO programming. People coming from non-OO programming pick up ocaps programming less quickly.

Agoric is building an ocaps system on top of JavaScript.

Yesterday I've used #APConf heavily to tag the #ActivityPubConf. But since @maloki mentioned an accessibility issue with screen readers, today I'll use the latter tag instead.
