With a concept like this, the actual website need not be fedirated or decentralized, so the frontend.

Only the actual hosting of files, interaction, and records need to be. Thus, anyone could replicate it if the site goes AWOL.

Thus, I think #ActivityPup for user communication and data and then #IPFS for actual files. Using IPFS would even allow for versioning similar to #Git.

@73ms @andreadraghetti I agree, I have no idea why the press keeps jerking off over BlueSky when it's still a closed-off site and it's not clear at all where it will be headed. At least it's FOSS (which is nice) but it feels pointless since we already have #Mastodon which is actually working RIGHT NOW and the user base is growing FAST.

And from what I've read, BlueSky seems to be incompatible with #ActivityPup which isn't very encouraging either.

Similarly, a delete_by field should be included when sharing via #activitypup

@dean @blindscribe I do use #Flickr, and would definitely recommend it as a good alternative to Facebook (full-res originals, proper licence metadata, approximate dates, …) but I wouldn't really call it part of the #indieweb. Not yet, anyway (they don't support #ActivityPup). The most #fediverse image system is #pixelfed I think, although I've not used it so can't really say what it's like. :-) https://pixelfed.org/

Nimm einen großen Bogen Papier und zeichne darauf in ein Ecke ein Spinnennetz, jeder Knotenpunkt ist dann eine Instanz von Mastodon. Nun Zeichne ein weiteres Spinnennetz, das wäre dann z. B. PeerTube. So machst du dann weiter bis Du ganz viele Netze hast. Nun hast Du sehr viele Netze, aber sie sind nicht miteinander verbunden.
Jetzt kommt das Protokoll #ActivityPup in's Spiel, erst *damit* werden aus den einzelnen Netzen das Fediverse!

Jede Instanz von Mastodon ist nur ein Knotenpunkt des Mastodon-Netzwerk wie auch jedes Sonnensystem nur ein Teil (Knotenpunkt) einer Galaxie ist, erst zusammen sind die sind die Galaxien (Mastodon, Matrix, Plume, ...) dann das Universum (Fediverse), wiederum als Teil des Multiversum (Internet). #ActivityPup ist "nur" das Protokoll, über welches die verschiedenen Knotenpunkte (Galaxien) kommunizieren können.

After researching #ActivityPup I’m not a big fan. It has some true scaling issues. I honestly hope there will be a new W3C working group working on the fediverse, soon. No update in 3 years is no good

Maybe it could be possible to make #scuttlebutt and #activitypup / #mastodon compatible by creating something like a combination of a scuttlebutt pup and a mastodon instance where the users handle would be @scuttlebutt_public_key@intance_pup.social so it would act as a bridge between the two networks.

@mikka ja, sehr gerne. Ich hatte einfach das WordPress Plugin installiert und an den Einstellungen nichts verändert. Beim WP Benutzer wird mir nun der Name angezeigt, den ich via #fediverse abonnieren müsste. Aber er ist nicht zu finden. #activitypup
