I don't trust #bluesky. I don't trust Jack Dorsey's motives - never have. I don't like the way they basically started it as celebrity invite-only social rather than open everything right away. I don't like that they effectively tossed out #activtypub and all of the existing #Fediverse work in favor of building their own thing. I do not see myself being convinced to join them.

Am I just being a crank?

@atomicpoet Jimmy Wales said the next version of his Wiki-based social network would support #ActivtyPub (not at launch but on roadmap) and suggested it would be a replacement for some uses of Reddit (and Twitter)

Timely question: Does anyone know the status of a formal or informal building out an #ActivtyPub test suite, akin to the one used to test http://webmention.rocks but for Acitivity pub.

I know the activitypub.rocks effort ended and I see this one that seemed to evolve from that but has been derelict for a number of years.

Is there any other effort active?

In light of the discourse today, I think I'd wonder more about the #ActivtyPub alternatives.

I'm open to getting more out of the Fediverse social experience so I like the idea of #Hubzilla, #Calckey, and even #Pixelfed. I like the idea of a social platform that has galleries and groups.

@arpcomics Well when #Wordpress users add the #ActivtyPub plugin they get that - full fledged interoperable actors on the #Fediverse.

Flying back from #SxSW where I evangelized #ActivtyPub, #Mastodon and the #Fediverse. It’s crazy how few people have even heard of this movement and all anyone could talk about was #GenerativeAI. I felt like an eccentric prophet holding a sign with scrawled writing “The end of the walled gardens is nigh”

But as many of you on Mastodon already know, the dawn of the open social web is here now and next SXSW is likely to be very different.

Previous merged PR was for 2.18. Although, someone opened this Trac ticket: https://trac.macports.org/ticket/66751 which is still open, because my attempts to refactor the Portfile with the PortGroup makefile 1.0 have been unsuccessful so far.

Thankfully, another ticket was opened: https://trac.macports.org/ticket/66989 so I can justify just pushing a version bump & solve the harder problem later?

#Flickr could do that for all paid Flickr users, adding Real=me validation, and adding "sharing on Mastodon" functions - along with concierge access to a Flickr.social accounts set up and support as an extra to incitive offered paid users on the legacy service.

All as a first step while they consider deeper #ActivtyPub integration.

It's better to have your contributions for those who want it than not have them for those uninterested :)

Anyway, I do believe there are programs specifically designed to handle audio like that as it's part of the #ActivtyPub system, but sorry I can't name them off the top of my head.

Is there any way to analyse my own #mastodon activity?

For example: how might I go about creating a table of everyone I follow (or a subset if that's easier), how many toots they've published in the last 2 weeks (I'm flexible), and how many times I've favourited those toots?

(Also interested in boosts, and my type of interaction, but let's keep the problem constrained for now)

Assuming #twitter doesn't disappear. I wonder if they will implement the #activtypub protocol and somehow try and take control of the protocol with custom extensions. The embrace and extend tactic

@atomicpoet not sure but I want to learn about the #activtypub and what you could build with it. I never even heard of it until I made a Mastodon account. Definelty intriguing!
