In the spirit of sharing simply Cool™ and Nice™ things: the Cornell Lab's app for identifying birds by their calls, Merlin, is Really Cool™. It works stupendously well with the little chirps, chirrups, and tweets that my cell microphone can pick up from tens of yards away, and keeps a history of the birds you've identified.
