Have any autistics taken propranolol and seen changes to their behaviors and mannerisms? In February I started taking 80mg daily for my migraines. Now, I know it helps with anxiety, but I swear it's making me stim less. SSRIs and benzos never had that effect.

when a friend is looking to quote an author who thinks that ADHD and autism are caused by environmental factors and can be 'cured' by torture, i mean 'therapy' it's spot on to point them in the direction of writings by Autistic academics as well as 'capitalism and schizophrenia,' 'the birth of the clinic' and 'madness and civilisation' right?

Question for folks who are any combo of , , , etc. I run my (fairly neurodiverse) firm’s in-house professional development. A junior associate has asked me to add a session or other resources on, essentially, professional norms and unspoken expectations, e.g. “how to communicate with clients” and “what level of communication with the assigning partner should an associate have while working on an assignment.” I think a lot of the specific answers are situation-dependent (eg some partners want frequent chats, and some just want to hear from you when you’ve got a finished memo), but I do think there’s value to trying to identify those sorts of issues and listing relevant variables. So like… if I’m sending a draft pleading to a client, I always note in the email (1) the filing deadline and (2) when I need to hear back from them. If the client tends to be uncommunicative, I may frame it as “I plan to file this on the deadline unless I hear otherwise from you by [date/time],” but I only do that if I already know they’re fine with the substance of the pleading. Other possible topics: how to work with support staff (most 25yos have never had a secretary and are used to dealing with all their own admin stuff); a written SOP for filings, including a timeline (even the simplest document is locked down at 3pm so staff can get it filed by 5pm, with a buffer for IT issues etc).

So: any suggestions for other topics to add here? What are some things you wish you’d been told explicitly as a new lawyer?

Thinking about the way the planet constantly spins and wobbles. Just like me. It’s a comfort that I will still be here, still spinning on the earth, after this form of me has actually gone. .

it disappoints me to see other people bleed their community dry with overpriced goods and services.

just shows you that being autistic is no guard against being manipulative, venal and greedy.

Instagram - Andi Putt • Autism • Speech Therapy on Instagram: "April is Autism awareness and acceptance month and you will undoubtedly see a TON of information about Autism. Some of it good and helpful, some of it…. Less so. (Read: not nice, incorrect, cringy, heavily stereotyped, and so much more). I am all for increasing awareness about Autism because a very large portion of the world’s population doesn’t have an accurate understanding of what it actually is and what it can look like. It’s so much more than stereotypes. I’m also all for increasing acceptance because as a society, we are legit super inflexible (which we claim autistic people to be) when it comes to accepting differences. But also this time of year is extremely traumatic for my Autistic friends. Here are some tips to consider while celebrating Autism month: 1. Be sure you share accurate information that is not based solely on stereotypes. 2. Recognize that there is a huge variety of Autistic individuals. Their Autism will present differently, their experiences will be different, and their perspectives and opinions will be different. All are valid and should be respected. 3. Research, listen to, and share information directly from Autistic accounts/people. Look for Autistic run businesses and/or support your favorite Autistic creators on social media (by sending $, or liking/sharing their content). 4. Share and talk about Autism more than just in April! Learn more and then talk to your kids about Autism so they can learn it’s not “bad” or “taboo” to talk about. ⭐️ If you are looking to learn more about Autism from a Neurodiversity affirming perspective, check out my Autism Handbook - link in profile!"

This post from IG basically describes my entire family.
My kids being diagnosed has changed my world. I’ve learned so much about myself and my kids, and even my own mother. I’ve forgiven so much and allowed myself to start
I cannot express enough how valuable the community has been to me and my family.
So much grace and acceptance.
I cannot thank them enough

'we're all a bit right?'

no, we're not.

if you think being a bit odd is the same as being autistic then we need to have words however if you're constantly relating to the experiences of autistic folks then perhaps you should consider if you are

Have had a change in perspective recently and I feel like all the different interests from being are making something cool. I’ve been overwhelmed for so long but things are getting better. Able to take pictures again.

Love getting new in the mail. These came today from Musgrave Pencil Company in Tennessee. Pictured are a dozen purple round Pencil King pencils in a purple tube, and two dozen yellow Harvest pencils in a cherry wood box that smells wonderful, two erasers, a Test Scoring pencil, and a Ceres pencil.

Yeah, collecting wood case pencils is a special interest of mine.

@TheUnadaptedOnes Hello fellow lover. I’m so lucky to live here and hopelessly in love with the place myself. Self diagnosed at 53 this year, what a relief! Artist focused on connecting with people by making stuff together.

That’s my working theory. Ironically in these cases I’ve realized they’re not sharing as a normal friendship. I know this because I’m still excluded from that closeness, but I’m obviously seen as a safe place for secrets? It’s a bit confusing. 2/2.
