Session social media posters could help this situation by posting about new videos here.
Or, you know, use PeerTube so that we can follow your channel and see posts automatically. PeerTube is a good way to backup your videos too. Who knows if/when YouTube will decide to end your channel...

Since I’m a web developer for my university’s student paper I have a chance of implementing activitypub stuff with their website. The thing is I have no idea if activitypub would be useful for rich text articles right now. I’ve seen some people post massive blog posts as statuses on mastodon and it looks horrible.
Anyone have insight into that? #actvitypub #Fediverse
Yes, and a new initiative is the @fedidevs group, who recently set up a matrix chatroom where a lot of devs already joined, and working to document state of the existing #Fediverse and #ActvityPub et al specs at:
Goal is to lower barriers for the developer community as a whole to join the fray and write interoperable federated apps.
I have seen several articles saying Meta is exploring a Twitter alternative that is "decentralized" and "based on ActivityPub". What I haven't seen is:
What do they mean by "decentralized"?
Will it actually federate with servers not under some level of Meta control? Will P92 (its codename) actually permit messages to flow to Mastodon or other Fediverse servers?
Will it serve ads? Will it have a chronological feed, or use a business-priority algorithm? How much data will it capture/harvest?
This could be a good thing, or it could be little more than buzzwords to incent Meta users to resist migrating to the Fediverse.

Good written overview.
Some people see just Mastodon, some even just the app on their smartphone.
But the protocol is what is really interesting.
Yes, some companies started to adapt their systems. I wonder when some of the usual non-core web-tech or social network enterprises will jump on it and start projects based in it. E.g. adapting their web content management system.

@bootblackcub @aphyr Moving to a decentralized protocol and expecting a centralized experience is silly to me. Normalization and centralization go hand in hand, so a decentralized experience isn't normalized I.e. views are unreliable.

I’m pretty damned sure that this article on #Mastodon, #ActvityPub, and the #Fediverse will get a lot of tooting today.
So, why not join the fun?

@okuramasafumi ohh also that, Mastodon is just an implementation. You can find more about using #ActvityPub as your base search term:
Has anyone already tested if #Blubrry #PowerPress plays well with any of the existing #ActvityPub plugins to #WordPress?

Not sure how to feel about this. It feels validating, but do we need that validation? Also not sure the kinda community hangs out over there on Tumblr. Let’s also not forget the technical aspects of it all. Would be a huge number of new people.

@lmorchard a fair and bright point!
can i also point to a less known #mastodon, and other #actvitypub apps #host -

This is borderline mean:
The poor people falling for the first link (#Diaspora) will not be able to communicate with any of the #ActvityPub supporting services listed next to it.
I'm sorry for you Diaspora, but not supporting ActivityPub is a growing problem.
#FediverseObserver I strongly suggest to either list E-Mail, #XMPP and #Matrix, too – or stick to #ActivityPub.

@clacke thanks for sharing. @GuppeGroups was originally just a practice project to get familiar with #ActvityPub because I really wanted to build the decentralized immersive web metaverse with @ImmersSpace, but it turns out people actually like it. A portion of my new grant work will be spent improving a shared library of AP code so that Guppe can get upgraded as well
Since you're here, check out my soundcloud: https://immers.space
It's the #metaverse but powered by #ActvityPub, the same decentralized tech as Mastodon
@django I see you posting about implementing #ActvityPub. Whatcha working on?
@alexcastano @bhaugen @ivan @mayel @lynn
Hi Alex I just stumbled across this discussion and see you're looking into a generic #ActvityPub implentation. If you're not tied to that tech stack, I have a modular AP library for NodeJS https://github.com/wmurphyrd/activitypub-express
It is not yet complete, but it is functional
@darius
also I'm working on a project to help enable that future. Taking the #ActvityPub implentation from @GuppeGroups (based on your NodeJS reference imp.) and converting it to a modular library of express middleware and utils.

Still very early stage, but making progress
