Al liked my pictures and gave me confidence when I was just beginning to shoot with intention.

The "Tiki-style" bar lasted just four months in 1988 before the guy Al leased from sold out.

It was a beautiful thing while it lasted, but once-"dodgy" Adams-Morgan was being overrun by money.

One of the bar backs (who shall remain anon) played in a now-famous punk/ska band
