2/5 To his credit, my manager stuck with job performance and benefit to the organization in writing his notes. As we reviewed his feedback, I was determined to add context and offer how certain benefits are influenced by my #adapting to my AuDHD. I was upfront about some of my #challenges and where I have to find ways to try and work past them as I’m getting things done.

The term “#new #normal" has become a #cliche used to #normalize #unpleasant #situations that should not be accepted as permanent. It originated after 9/11 but is now commonly used to refer to #climate #disasters. Merely #adapting to these disasters without addressing their #root #cause in #fossil #fuel #consumption will only make the #problems worse.

So, on Jan 22 I was asking about methods of learning braille -- for myself. Nine days later, and my mom has a stroke resulting in vision deficit (but she still has her visual hallucinations). Also on Jan 22, in conversation here about bringing in more caregiving assistance, with reluctance. Now that my mom's out of the hospital, I can't get people here fast enough. #Stroke #ElderCare #Hemianopsia #Adapting #CharlesBonnetSyndrome

Have to say the conversation around #adapting to #climatechange is driving me a little crazy. Of course, it’s essential. But context is everything, and ‘adapt’ seems to negate the need to contain our huge heat and energy waste. It also seems to carry it’s own built-in excuse for why, for example, low lying peoples will be disproportionately impacted. “They failed to adapt,” we’ll say. Because that’s the easy narrative, it serves the fossil fuel industry, and it requires the least of any of us.
Well, I'm now into my third day in this brave new world, and haven't been scared away yet, so something must be working.
I have to say, the level of #conversation and general discourse is much more grown-up, esoteric, intelligent than "the other place" has ever been. This is a good thing. The shitposts are fun, but when that's all there is, it's a bit, well, shit.
Looking forward to making this, if not a permanent home, at least a very regular holiday haunt #NewHere #Adapting

To address the "newcomers will never adapt" argument, let me offer this story:
I have a friend. Known him for years. Love him to death. But the dude literally sends me twenty texts at a time. At first, this greatly annoyed me. I turned my notifications off.
But I loved my friend. Valued the friendship more than the tech. And I got used to his missives. Now I don't mind. And we're still thick as thieves.
Give people the benefit of the doubt.
Third step: making a sentence with other hashtags I fancy:
Since I got #Omicron, thankfully, it seems that COVID is no longer in me, no #longcovid in sight.
I'm waiting, without really wanting it, for the next #sarscov2 sub-variant to arrive here in Argentina.
As you may have read in my bio, I am #neurodivergent and do my best to speak out against #discrimination not just #ableism , in the spirit of #intersectionality. That's the reason I appeared here in #Mastodon.
I'm passionate about animals like the #cat, #carpincho and everything else that makes our planet so nice. I believe that ecosystem services and #biodiversity are as important as our lives. Because they are not only related to #climatechange but also to us: what we eat, drink, medicines, building materials, #energy etc.
I believe we are now in the stage of #adapting to global change. #Mitigation is over, #solidarity is more important than technology.
