#ADHO has a #DH 2023 ADHO Identity Project survey open at the moment (deadline 31 August), please fill this in: https://forms.gle/SfhiNtGmGME3o2d79
Wrapping up our second full day of #ADHO meetings (in rooms with no air conditioning and limited ventilation) before the #DH2023 conference officially starts. ADHO doesn't organize itself -- like so much of DH, it's people. Tired, sweaty people who've nonetheless managed to do some satisfying work. #DigitalHumanities

Further #MultilingualDH adventures with #ADHO: the discovery that the German interface computer, where the camera & microphone are set up for remote participants, appears to be giving automatic captions in German. #DH2023
Who's responsible for Voyant? Who's responsible for any of the things that are common-good resources, and defy easy preservation? I used to hope that #ADHO would take on a larger, more central role in maintaining things that are simultaneously everyone and no one's problem, but instead (for better and worse) it's moved towards decentralization. So we're back to the struggles of collective action. #DHNB2023
Lo it is decided: 8:30 is not too early to go to bed when you have to get up for a 4 AM #ADHO meeting. #DigitalHumanities
What I really want to know about the #ADHO conference is: What motivates people to put in the heroic work required to organize a big international conference, given that it doesn't have a clear disciplinary center of gravity? I'm impressed and grateful, but at the same time amazed that the concept of #digitalhumanities is strong enough to hold that institution together, when we don't have e.g. an international literary studies conference.
