@nigronia @laura_e_franey @academicchatter Agreed with what you just said and that is what happens because of . The admin could not do that to a unionized lecturer or a tenure stream faculty. There would have to be a process, one especially weighing in expertise and faculty oversight over pedagogy (as opposed to admin)

Having trouble finding a -track position in the US? Here are three big reasons. /1

First: An increasing proportion of the faculty at US institutions consists of extremely poorly paid part-time adjuncts. This is largely a higher administration issue, since departments would rather have tenure-track faculty if provided the funds, but departments and faculty senates bear part of the blame for acceding to this egregious practice.
