Here it is. This essay nails the heart of it regarding the #Hamline outrage.
With #tenure , this would've been an uncomfortable series of meetings, not an effective firing, for the wronged professor.
This is about #adjunctification.

This is not a story about Islamophobia or trigger warnings or what material is appropriate to show in an art class. It’s a story about how expendable adjunct professors are, and how non-faculty deans who have no commitment to academic freedom have gained too much power in colleges and universities.

@nigronia @laura_e_franey @academicchatter Agreed with what you just said and that is what happens because of #adjunctification. The admin could not do that to a unionized lecturer or a tenure stream faculty. There would have to be a process, one especially weighing in expertise and faculty oversight over pedagogy (as opposed to admin)
@academicchatter This is a case study of infringement of subject expertise. This is what happens when you get #adjunctification
Having trouble finding a #tenure-track #faculty position in the US? Here are three big reasons. /1
First: #adjunctification An increasing proportion of the faculty at US institutions consists of extremely poorly paid part-time adjuncts. This is largely a higher administration issue, since departments would rather have tenure-track faculty if provided the funds, but departments and faculty senates bear part of the blame for acceding to this egregious practice.
