For me personally, I don't need nor want any of that drama related stuff, and I don't feel the users of #AllThingsTech deserve to have that kind of drama put onto them nor the instance itself. It causes too much stress for everyone, including others around the #Fediverse and I hate to say it, but I've got much more important things in life to do than to deal with those types of things.

If you wish to import or use someone else's block list for your instance(s), then that's certainly your decision and your right.

I strongly urge you to still do your research of every instance that is listed in a block list. If you don't, you're going to get yourself, your instance and possibly even your users into possible drama and cause a lot of disagreements as well as a lot of questions from a lot of folks.

I know I've not been a Mastodon instance admin as long as others, but I will tell you this with regards to #AllThingsTech

We will NOT import or use someone else's block list for any reason at all, EVER!

We feel it's best to do your own research, block/suspend/limit how WE feel is correct, based on reports from our users, or others.

Just because another instance defederates or whatever, doesn't mean everyone should or is required to do so.

#Mastodon feature request - the option to set a posts thread to "not-editable & not-deletable". People have the option to reply, or not, to "non-editable?" marked threads.

Why the improvement?

Imagine you were having a conversation with someone who kept saying "l never said that at all" (deleted) or kept changing the narrative of what they said in the past (edited)

They could have a reduced memory, they could be liars

Delete & or edit replies is being exploited.

On September 21, 2023, woof.group will suspend h5q.net for unmoderated CSAM: multiple accounts feature photos, videos, and illustrations of children being sexually abused. H5q's policies prohibit "child porn", but their moderators haven't responded to reports, DMs, or email over the last month.

We're announcing this defederation in advance because h5q is also home to a good number of adult-oriented queer people. We want to give them a chance to migrate instances and keep their follows. #admin

Aus dem nichts meldet OpnSense bei einem ipsec, das sonst super stabil läuft "Authentication failed" und killt die Verbindung. Nach forciertem Neustart der Verbindung gehts wieder. Sehr vertrauenserweckend.

Are there any Chromebook ninjas out here? My daughter wants to manage about a half-dozen chromebooks as an admin or maybe as a parent (using parent controls) to limit use of the Chromebooks to a couple of apps (mostly logging time some teens spend tutoring). Doable? She'd need her own gmail account and then have all others use the 'child' account she assigns them right? Suggestions? #chromebook #admin #questions
